#Abstract
Having the concept of Cultural Heritage and its transformation process throughout the XX century toward a slow but essential social transformation, we address the relation between the tangible and intangible aspects of Culture. Moreover we question its meaning, place and reason, looking to the future of the Museum and its educational role through a fundamental museology tool: the Inventory. Having this and the commitment with the Convention for safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, we draw an approach to the Portuguese Museums daily reality. The objective is to identify the tools that allow us to work with the duality of cultural heritage – tangible /intangible. The resulting conclusion is that in order to study Intangible Heritage for museology purposes you need to deal directly with the local stakeholder, learning from their knowledge and experience.
