Arte Contemporáneo ¿Fuera De Lugar? : “Islamic Mirror” en el Museo Santa Clara de Murcia
Julia Rabadán Guillén
AbstractThis article tries to reflect the new trend of museums to reinterpret its permanent collections through the Contemporary Art. An example of this is El Prado Museum (Madrid), with two exhibitions of living artists who were inspired in the works of the Museum to create your new jobs. Although initially the coexistence might seem strange, this is proving the perfect dialogue between the art of past and present. Similarly, in the most local level of the city of Murcia, we have examples in the Museum of Fine Arts with a similar sample "Asincronías". But we also have another option within this same trend in the exhibition "Islamic Mirror. A large mirror (only piece of the exhibition) installed in the Islamic room of the Santa Clara Museum, who tries to cause a new thinking in the visitor. "Islamic Mirror" reflects inside itself the space around it. The union between past and present is here again, as a clear sign that a museum, with a particular history and closed, can hold a piece of contemporary art without breaking its harmony. So with this article, we concluded that thanks to this type of temporary exhibitions with Contemporary Art, museums are transformed and are presented as a new surprise each time they are visited.
