#Um Museu no Castelo

#Abstract
Since 1996, archaeological excavations are hold at Castle of São Jorge neighborhood. These interventions provided the artifacts displayed on the permanent exhibition of the Castle of São Jorge Museum centre, and are dated between the VII c. B.C. and the XVIII A.D.. The research “Museums, Space and Communication”, aims to explore the relationship between the resident people of the Castle´s and the recently inaugurated museum centre. This reflection proposal was a consequence of observing that the material data came directly from houses, public and commercial spaces insight the neighborhood, owned by its residents. The archaeological work interferes permanently with daily habits, not being known the consequences. Do the local habitants know that the Centre exists? Did they already visit it? Do they know that besides being a Museum, it´s also a space of gathering and communication? Being the museum a space of social service, that should interact with people, is this accomplish by the Castle of São Jorge Museum Centre? We don’t want to answer these questions; we rather want do stimulate the thought for a language that gathers the neighborhood residents closer to Castle of São Jorge Nucleus.
