#Abstract
This study is a proposal for a museological intervention in a tide mill of Montijo Council – Moinho do Cais. The main objective throughout this work was the contextualization of this heritage unit. In order to achieve this, an historical and geographical framing of the council was made, as well as a brief description of the tide mills, including their function and the contextualization of the Moinho das Marés, with the other tide mills of Montijo council and with the ones of the Tejo Estuary. This study is sustained by the museological theories of New Museology emphasised in sociomuseology. The objective was to make a programmatic suggestion for the heritage unit being studied, following the strategies of the museological process. The definition of the creator concept of this musealization proposal is based on communication and how this is an efficient way to promote the preservation of the Moinho do Cais.
