Os Museus dos Curadores
AbstractThe exhibition of works of art in the landscape from the 70s, originated a new type of museological institutions characterized by a profound renewal of the practice of artistic mediation. It is true that the parks, itineraries and exhibitions on environmental rehabilitation areas that have emerged in Europe since then, evolved from the traditional models of exhibition in the open air, particularly those of sculpture gardens and outdoor museums, but it is also true that significant changes concerning the installation and the strategies of communication of the work occurred. Anchored in the curatorship of contemporary art, these museums radically undermined the relationship between the artwork and the museum. In fact, works that incorporate the collections of these structures result from direct commissions to artists what makes them the starting point for the museum. On the other hand, museum no longer performs the previous function of a place of arrival. The curators literally take the role of founders of museums.
