#Abstract
Traditionally, in Europe the governments were the managers of creating museums, but this control of the State is changing for new forms of management more opened and participative, used in the United States, and that are provoking the emancipation of the European governments in the guardianship of the museums, stimulating a major mercantile orientation. In this paper, we will analyse the reasons that have transformed the systems of management of the museums and, in turn, to compare the different models of countries as France, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom. Aspects that, undoubtedly, will allow to have a more general and real vision of the present panorama of the museums.
