#Abstract
This presentation aims to show some results of an ongoing study of summative evaluation of a science exhibition. The exhibition “Darwin’s Evolution” (Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, February to march 2009) was subjected to a summative evaluation, consisting of a set of different techniques, among which Personal Meaning Mapping – PMM. A sample of students and adult visitors was asked to draw their PMMs based on the words “Darwin” and “Evolution”, with the purpose of measuring how the experience of visiting the exhibition had transformed their knowledge and representations on the matter. By analyzing concepts and issues used by the visitors, we aim to elicit not only the acquired or transformed knowledge, but also which elements of the exhibition had a greater impact. Thus, this exploratory activity intends to also draw conclusions regarding the communication efficacy of the exhibition.
