AbstractIn the State of Bahía, Brazil, there has been an investment in a special Project called Rodin Bahía, for the creation of a museum dedicated to the work of the French sculptor. Two different administrations invested heavily for the implementation of the Project, developed between 2002-2009. In order to enable the starting off, many technical, political, social and museological matters got in the way until its inauguration in October 2009. Presenting the creation processs of the Scientific Program, in the light of the modifications that took place within the museological and cultural heritage field –both in the Brazilian and the Bahian society- may be a proper way of showing the social responsibility of the museum and its commitment, facing the changes in Bahia and in the rest of Brazil. The Scientific Program has been designed upon the guidelines of ICOM and ICOFOM included in the museographic projects; soco-educational and cultural; editorial; of temporary exhibitions, mediators training, safety and transportation of works of art, audiences and in the academic and interdisciplinary studies Project about Auguste Rodin. works of art. Nine months after the inauguration, it is possible to analyze the first results of this cultural and architectural investment, as well as to understand the present orientation of Brazilian Museology.
