O cancioneiro popular da imigração italiana
Cleodes Maria Piazza Julio Ribeiro e Patrícia Pereira Porto
Documento (.pdf)
AbstractThe Italian immigration in the North East of Rio Grande do Sul spread a remarkable ethno-musical legacy in which we find many songs, most of them in the dialect of origin of the immigrant. This repertoire, enriched by the songs of the different provinces of origin of the immigrants, added other songs composed in the Italian colonial region. The ECIRS (cultural elements of Italian immigration in the North East of Rio Grande do Sul) project, according to its working perspectives, aims at documenting all the significant varieties, as regards the lyrics and the music, conserving them in their original form. Confronting these varieties allows a better valuation of the process of local aculturation in this and other areas of culture. Even though in Brazil initiatives in the area of preservation of immaterial heritage are still recent, governments are designing projects in this respect, based mainly on the diversity of the cultures developed in the country. Such cultures are not only part of the history of each region but also identity formers. Key words: Music. Intangible heritage. Italian immigration.
