#Abstract
The structural organization of the work Obras Métricas shows that Francisco Manuel de Melo left his most singular poems for the final part of each one of the three groups of poems into which he divided the nine Muses that inspire his poetical production. Based on this structure, this article puts forward that the poem «Thétis Sacra», which concludes his poetical work published in Leon in 1665, constitutes the core of what should have been the single epic poem composed by the Melodino. This hypothesis is based on an analysis of the text emphasizing the literary marks that characterize this poem as part of 17th century heroic poetry.
