#Uma história de Dolia : uma primeira análise aos recipientes cerâmicos de armazenagem de Vale do Mouro (Coriscada, Meda)

#Abstract
The dolium or vase, as it is commonly called in our days, is in all probability on of most prevalent types of pottery in the history of ceramics in Portugal. It is also one of the least studied types at national level. The history of Roman ceramics in Portugal has essentially focused on high-quality, imported pottery, such as the sigillatae or amphorae, or on local productions representative of a certain area, such as the fine grey pottery. The dolia are usually considered in a class on their own. The remains found are often not studied, even when the archaeological digs yield a significant amount of these objects. This article results from a more extended study we have been developing, on the dolium type pieces of pottery found in the Douro valley and Beira Interior region, in archaeological settings dating from the 2nd to the 4th centuries. The work of Tony Silvino and Guillaume Mazza on the production structure of the dolia in Rumansil (Mós do Douro, Vila Nova de Foz Côa) is here taken as a starting point of analysis. In this paper, we present the preliminary results of the analysis of dolia fragments found at the town of Vale do Mouro, (Coriscada, Mêda), excavated between 2003 and 2010, which enabled the systematic survey and study of this type of pottery.
