#Abstract
This work, although trying to clarify the present situation of fishery in Portugal in a general way, is essentially directed to the understanding of the importance of this activity in what space organisation is concerned. Therefore; firstly, you can generally characterize in an historical point of view the fishing activity in Portugal since the end of the 19th century until nowadays, by investigating the evolution of the variable directly connected with the production of the fishing structures namely the fleet used and the labour. The second half is built on a case study. It is about the evolution of the fishing activity in the special spot of S. Pedro da Afurada in a perspective of analysing fishery/territory.
