#Abstract
This article, taking as a starting point Maxine H. Kingstons' The Woman Warrior, argues for this woman writer as a representative of the so-called Seventies's ethnic revival, an author in whom the intercultural identity is defined by the alternating horizons of Chinese culture and "mainstream" culture. The central argument of this paper calls for a further reference to Kingston's renegotiation of myth and folk legend, and to her opposition to the then dominant literary cânon.
