#Abstract
The contexts and contents that traditionally have characterized archivists’ education are analysed and these questions are inserted into the dominant paradigm of Archival Science, which is inheritor of the conceptions and the model implemented after the French Revolution. This vision is discussed and criticized by the light of a new paradigm emerging by force of the social, economic, cultural and technological conditions of Information Society. Thus, a new perspective rises, understanding Archival Science as an applied discipline into the scientific area of Information Science, whose object of study is Information, and appearing as a unitary and transdisciplinary field that convokes other disciplines in a profitable interdisciplinarity. Starting from the theoretical presuppositions which settle Information Science and from the professional contexts of the Information Society, it is designed the profile of the information professional which can’t keep on being a document keeper, but an information manager acting in any organic context that produces informational flow.
