O claustro da Badia de Florença
António Matos Reis
File (.pdf)
AbstractDuring the crucial period of the first Renaissance, a Portuguese artist, by the name of João Gonçalves, or otherwise known as Giovanni di Gonsalvo, painted a collection of frescos on the life of Saint Benedict in The Badia, the oldest monastery in Florence which, at the time, was governed by the Abbot D. Frei Gomes, born in Lisbon. Such art is considered one of the greatest moments of the Florentine painting of that period (1436-1439).
