#Abstract
Trees have always been a constant in every Mediterranean landscape but it was only from the late Middle Ages that they truly spread far and wide. This fact is perfectly documented in sources from the registry of the Order of Christ and in the Southern Beira Interior region, demonstrating a differentiated distribution, in terms of species and density, according to the various weather and pedological conditions of this particular area.
