#Abstract
Throughout two thousand years of Christianity, the issue around the mother and brothers of Jesus Christ has suffered different approaches in the light of Christian history, exegesis and faith. Recently, two Catholic exegetes, J. P. Meier and X. Pikaza, shared the opinion that the “brothers and sisters of Jesus” were true siblings, sons and daughters of Joseph and Mary. Our historical, sociological and exegetical analysis leads us to conclude that their arguments are insufficiently well-grounded.
