#Abstract
The discovery of new documents has allowed the author to shed light on the foundation of the Monastery of Almoster. In this sense, he describes the several steps taken from the very beginning of the process to the implementation of the monastic project, paying particular attention to the main ecclesiastic authorities – the General Chapter of Citeaux, the Sovereign Pontiff and the Bishop of Lisbon – and to the protection granted by monarchs to this monastic building. To conclude, the author lists the documents on which his study was based.
