#Abstract
This article examines and (re)considers music’s place in today’s art galleries. To try and understand in what way, why and to what extent, music may influence and have an impact on visitors’ art experience is the main focus of the research. Its potential as an interpretative tool will be weighed and its overall value, permissiveness and acceptance in art galleries examined. It is concluded that music embraces a multitude of roles which provide different layers of experience. Its greatest value resides in being a powerful meaningful art interpretative tool as it enhances the art experience in different levels. Its execution should therefore be encouraged, pursued and welcomed as a sound investment in art and XXI century art galleries.
