Avaliação e redução do risco de dano associado à luz solar em duas novas galerias do Victoria and Albert Museum
Diana Ornellas Bencatel
File (.pdf)
AbstractFor many cultural institutions with conservation concerns, the risk of damage on collections caused by sunlight is an important issue. This paper is focused on a risk assessment performed at the Victoria and Albert Museum (London) related to the eventual negative effect of sunlight on a set of sculpture that would be displayed in two new galleries of the museum. This assessment included the analysis of: information concerning light levels inside the galleries, the planned location of the sculpture throughout the galleries and the characteristics of each sculpture, which determined its sensitivity to light. The effectiveness of using blackout blinds on the windows was also assessed. At the end, the objects with higher risk of damage were identified and procedures to reduce the risk were presented.
