AbstractGenerated over the centuries, knowledge, skills and traditions existing in Ecuador should be considered -according to Tereza Scheiner- "a cultural pattern as important as literature." (Scheiner, 2008:23). In the city of Cuenca, the case of the Septenario Celebration is the survival of a religious tradition. “The Feast of Corpus Christi or Septenario so named because the festivities last at least seven days after Corpus Thursday is a tradition dating back to colonial times…” (Astudillo, 2006:16). Since 2005, in the Museum of Metals, we have been involved in revitalizing the Septenario Feast through the participation for one day of the matrons and young ladies of the Cuenca Septenario Priostes. This group has been led for more than fifty years by Maria Astudillo Montesinos. In 2006, for the celebrations of Maria Astudillo Montesinos 100 years, the Museum of Metals produced a book of her life experiences, especially with regards to the holding of Septenario Celebrations. In conjunction with the curator, the German photo-artist Heidi Bauer musealized Maria Astudillo Montesinos in the exhibition 100 years proudly Cuencan, which was a tribute not only to the lifestyle of one person, but also to the Septenario Feast. In 2010, the Church contributed significantly to the revitalization of the Septenario Feast, especially in domestic worship, through the involvement of new actors in the urban parishes of Cuenca during the seven days of the celebrations. The permanent revival of religious traditions requires a joint effort of all participants: Church, priostes, heritage institutions, museums, regional and local governments and community.
