Roteiros culturais da migração italiana : museus memoriais ao ar livre
Pedro de Alcântara Bittencourt César... [et al.]
File (.pdf)
AbstractIn this document we will analize the creation of cultural itineraries and their definition as museums of memory. The survey opens a parenthesis in Serra Gaúcha, Northeastern area of the State of Río Grande do Sul, South of Brazil, moulded by the Italian immigration since the end of the XIXth century, whose main occupation stemmed from a huge planning and regional occupation project. Located in previously occupied areas, its process of historical-spatial creation is signed by certain isolation which characterizes it as a cultural region. Currently, many of its cities have become cultural areas with posibilities of being visited for their references to the memory of the Italian colonization. The special characteristics of the open air museums can be found in the different itineraries, where it is possible to discover material and immaterial testimonies of the “memory of the Italian immigration”, which allows for the recovery of historical-architectural roads. Along these, the developments of Antonio Prado (in the urban area), Bento Gonçalves (in the Vineyard Valley) and Flores da Cunha (called Roads of the Colony) are analized, as well as the temporal relationship between the history of the Italian legacy, the production as migratory reference and, nowadays, their presentation as cultural visits. The proposals have not been thoroughly explored yet, in spite of the fact that they add potentialities and historical settings. Meanwhile, it is possible to define a typical cultural landscape for a visit that reproduces the Italian villages in South America. Key words: Memory of immigration. Cultural itineraries. Museums. Identity
