#Abstract
Research undertaken to organize a reliable diagnosis of museum institutions in Rio Grande do Sul, in agreement with the redefinition of the country's public policies within the cultural field. This approach is quantitative, qualitative and descriptive in order to outline and analyze the main features of museum institutions. It aims to bring together theoretical and methodological supports for setting up a critical route of museums in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, to be posted on-line as a reference for the definition of new cultural policies. It highlights that blogs had emerged as a strategy to tackle physical barriers for knowledge on dissemination, research and scientific museums production. It concludes that by bringing together in the same place the scientific production from the RS State gaúcho museums as well as from the whole country, will allow a better access to researchers, students and anybody else concerned with museum institutions.
