AbstractThe Romantic Route Association began in 1990, inspired by the Romantische Strasse, in Germany. This Route is made up by thirteen towns halls located in the area of the Great Porto Alegre and in Serra Gaúcha, whose common denominator is the German colonization and the preservation of the culture of that origin, in a migration process that started at the beginning of the XIXth century. The research stems from the premise that along this Route there are museums which contain souvenirs of the German immigration. This way, the relationship of the museums of this Route is presented by choosing those that, in some way approach the culture brought by German immigrants through decorative objects or household utensils or tools, habits, traditions and building techniques that portray their first years in Río Grande do Sul. Once the museums to be investigated have been chosen, an analysis is carried out in order to know if they work on heritage interpretation. The research is performed in its collection and in its interpretation within the context of each museum. References and information about the authors that work with these concepts are offered and the existing practices are discussed. Key words: Heritage interpretation. Museums. Romantic route.
