#Abstract
With this paper we intend to reveal, in a concise way, the main characteristics of the Renaissance painting and sculpture in the north of Portugal and to understand those characteristics into the context of that epoch. We also try to detach the activity of national and international artists working in Portugal, some of them practically unknown of the large public, and call the attention to the importance of their work.
