AbstractIn order to understand the renewed interest in political socialization in the European and Portuguese contexts, based on the centrality that they devote to education for citizenship, we tried to recognize the devices and references that help social actors to perform their own assessments and critical judgments about the best ways to educate in society taking into account the interests of the common good. These judgments are not arbitrary or relativizing. In fact they manifest obedience of a particular requirement of obligations (conventions), in order to present themselves as legitimate at the public space. As such, they organize themselves into grammars of political socialization, which are also the product of the theoretical work of philosophers and educators.
