Pensando a morte desde a religião – para pensar a cultura desde a morte
Ângelo Cardita
File (.pdf)
AbstractThis article proposes a reflection about death starting from the relationship between religion and culture, more concretely, we show how death constrains the “transcendental” subject to situate itself assuming its finitude, and how this “situated” subject is, in fact, the religious and ritual subject. The cultural dimension here at play connects with Christianity and to its destiny within western and modern societies. Modern western culture is, in fact, rooted by Jesus death. That death and its understanding are at the origins of the modern western culture and societies. Thus, we propose here to think death from the viewpoint of religion and to think culture from the viewpoint of death.
