Desemprego feminino envelhecido: Uma história de resistência à invisibilidade
Pedro Araújo
File (.pdf)
AbstractSenior feminine unemployment: A history of resistance to invisibility Based upon the unemployment narratives of four women and mostly in Andreia, who lost her laboratory analyst job when a ceramic factory from Coimbra (Portugal) bankrupted in 2001, the article analyses the way women confronts themselves with a rigid and sexually differentiating structure of job opportunities. The horizons narrowing – render intelligible by the reduction of job opportunities – and the destiny inescapability – expressed by a market reintegration only made possible through «feminine» and disqualified activities – reveal the way in which the inequalities that are still present in the Portuguese market place find echo in women’s unemployment experiences.
