AbstractRealities and images of speciesism: impacts of factory farming and advertising representations of sentient nonhuman animals This study aims to expose the impacts of factory farming on the environment and public health, as well as to inquire the processes of fragmentation/objectification of sentient nonhuman animals prior to the act of consumption. It also includes an analysis of advertising images in order to show how advertising representations incorporate ideologies that ensure a speciesist social order. The study mentions veganism as a more environmentally sustainable practice, more beneficial to public health and essential to contain food crises and to safeguard (non)human animals rights.
