#Abstract
This work, based on the available bibliography and archive sources, synthesises some fundamental facts related to the first years after the foundation of the institution and the character of its founder. The author also attempts to establish the place of this religious house in Braga’s social and religious contexts and in the cyclical changes experienced by the beatérios of the Iberian Peninsula. Finally, the author proposes some explanations for the specific kind of spirituality practised by the devout sisters of Campo da Vinha (Beatas do Campo da Vinha) and the longevity of this institution.
