Resume
Lieux de spiritualité féminine en Castille au XVe siècle
Adeline Rucquoi
File (.pdf)
AbstractThis study's purpose is to pay a tribute to some of the 15th century Spanish aristocratic women who became noted for their literary works – D. Maria Pacheco (the countess of Benavente), the countess of Plasencia, Teresa de Cartagena –, and at the same time call to mind those same texts, as well as the works which they helped to promote. To these outstanding writers we must ad the names of equally famous women members of monastic orders, such as Isabel de Villena, Maria de Santo Domingo, Maria de Ajofrín, etc. The importance of prayer and meditation as the basis for women spirituality is also analysed by the author, who concludes by supporting the idea that if the practice of spirituality requires secluded places, and if women were kept away from their homes or cells, then, «spirituality» and «femininity» become redundant words.
