AbstractThe Holy Land, the place where Jesus Christ lived on earth, constitutes in a certain sense the greatest and most venerated relic of the Catholic Church, in spite the fact that most of the sacred physical remains could not be displaced from their original place. Starting with the study of three pilgrimage narratives written between 1485 and 1533 by Franciscan friars from Castile, the author analyses the relationship between devotees and sacred places in order to establish the many similarities in terms of configurations and functions of those places and relics.
