Un coleccionista de reliquias : don Sancho Dávila y el Estudio Salmantino
Jacobo Sanz Hermida
File (.pdf)
AbstractSancho Dávila (1546-1626), well known for his obsession for the collecting of holly remains, can be described as the personification of the post- Trentine counter-reform bishop, concerned with the preservation of the cult and devotion of relics. His relationship with the so-called Estudio Salmantino (literally Salamanca Study) began when he was a young student and lasted until his death. However, it is the University of Tormes that promoted his most relevant works and preserved some of his most treasured relics.
