#Abstract
Following a brief historical introduction to different texts describing this controversial devotion, susceptible of having been used to serve different types of interests, the author analyses the way women have used these relics and studies fragments of relics and the «corpus» of women (particularly the uncorrupted bodies kept inside convents), through direct testimonies – basically texts written by women – as well as based on several documented texts. The variety of human remains considered sacred, as illustrated in our paper, allows us to observe the substantial differences between those human remains in terms of authenticity, a fact that may give raise to some questions.
