Portugal, España e Inglaterra en la década de 1620 : las maniobras de los condes de Salinas y Gondomar
Trevor Dadson
File (.pdf)
AbstractThis article analyses the relationships between Portugal, Spain and England during the first decades of the 17th century, based on the conduct of two of the most eminent politicians of their time, Diego de Silva y Mendoza, Count of Salinas, and Diego Sarmiento de Acuña, Count of Gondomar. For about 20 years, these two distinguished figures of Lerma’s regime were involved in a triangle of interests linking Spain, Portugal and England. As the article will show, Salinas’ career in Portuguese administration began and ended with his participation in affairs with England, and in this the Count of Gondomar also played a relevant part.
