#Abstract
Based on the public interventions of the renowned Spanish intellectual and writer Leopoldo Alas Clarín, between 1875 and 1901, this study analyses the ideological assumptions that underlie the need for cultural exchanges, specific modalities of mediation (particularly through the press) and possible assimilation, as the most prolific result of a cosmopolitanism that could be found in Spain, France and Portugal.
