#Abstract
This article focuses on the last functionalist-oriented works published in Portugal whose theoretical framework is based on Professor Emilio Alarcos Llorach’s functionalism. Following a brief introduction to this eminent linguist, the study proceeds with an overview of some works centred on both theoretical grammar and Spanish-Portuguese contrastive grammar.
