#Abstract
José Jesús Gómez Asencio, The work of the Real Academia Española (Spanish Royal Academy) in the 18th century (and after) This article, from an aggregating and overarching perspective, tries to o?er a descriptive and critical perception of the (meta)linguistic work carried out by the Real Academia Española (Spanish Royal Academy) since its foundation in 1713. The study focuses primarily on the its academic contribution to grammaticography, not only in terms of external aspects (editions, models, replicas of those models…) but also in some internal aspects (de?nition of “grammar”, parts of the discipline, etc.). Finally, particular attention is paid to the linguistic models advocated by the Corporation, and to the canon of authorities which have been established or suggested since the 18th century.
