AbstractMercedes Quilis Merín, Iberian languages and dialects and their normalisation in early Spanish lexicography This study analyses the concepts of languages and dialects recorded in the Spanish lexicographic works between the 15th century and the ?rst quarter of the 20th century. The chronological development of the conception of these voices in the dictionaries shows the linguistic ideas existing at a particular historical moment about the ancient Iberian peninsular languages, their development and the constitution of romance languages, the conception of languages and dialects and the consideration of the Spanish language, in itself and related with other neighbouring languages.
