#Abstract
Montemayor’s verse epistle to Sá de Miranda is a highly relevant document in understanding the biography of the author of La Diana, particularly his self-image as a poet in the early phase of a literary career. This study analyses the aforementioned epistle within Montemayor’s biographical context, presenting a fully annotated critical edition based on the two extant sources of the poem.
