#Abstract
The present article investigates the life of the castilian jesuit Andrés de Oviedo, the major phases of his intense journeys in Europe and in Ethiopia, focusing mostly on his correspondence. Special attention is paid to his relationship with portuguese and Portugal, concluding with an analysis of the ethiopian Mission after the death of Andrés de Oviedo’s brethren.
