#Abstract
The landscape is the result of a complex process of strengths that reappear from where there are visible elements more or less immediate to which symbolic constructions are associated and are part of the structure, allowing its deeper understanding. António Ferro’s role during the dictatorship leading SPN/SNI, was determinant to building territorial myths based on folk policies mixed with romantic and nationalistic ideals coming from the beginning of the XIX century. The concept of “Casa Portuguesa” – Portuguese House – was reflected in initiatives such as the “contest of the most portuguese village of Portugal”, that became his masterpiece. The rural and folk vision of Salazar and António Ferro´s regime photographed images of a timeless Portugal of peasants transformed into landscape gardeners.
