#Abstract
The Author starts with a brief presentation of the different modalities of hermeneutics and characterizes the one he considers to be typical of revelation. Then he proceeds with the analysis of the notions of evil and sin, at the level of philosophical theology. Using the conclusions he has arrived at, he analyses the same problem in the light of Christian theology, an distinguishes between temptation, peccability, and sin. While dealing with this latter topic, he proposes several understandings of original sin, and characterizes a sui generis modality of sinful behaviour which he names lay sin. With basis on his theological reflections, the Author then approaches some themes of philosophical ethic, namely that of the distinction between ethic and morals, and between ethics af autonomy, and ethics of obedience, as well as that of responsibility. Finally the Author tries to evaluate St. Augustine's contribution to pre¬sent day study of the theme sin.
