#Abstract
This article analyses the recent changes in the housing situation in the municipalities of Oporto Metropolitan Area. In the first part of the paper we tried to evaluate the housing quantitative needs in 1981 and 1991, years of the two last census of housing. Then we study the recent dinamic of family housing tenure, enphasizing the growth of home ownership and the deep decline of rented houses, in the 1980's. Finally, we examine the confort of houses: age of buildings; number of housing with water, electricity and drains.
