Ecologia humana e turismo no Alto Minho
José da Cruz Lopes
File (.pdf)
AbstractThe Alto Minho is part of NW Portugal which is an area characterised by a very specific geographical division. This is mainly due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and to some orographic forms (hills and mountains) which simultaneously determine the use of the soil and the behaviour of the local/regional communities. In order to illustrate this reality, Amorosa, on the coast, and Varzea, in the Soajo's mountains, were selected. Such environmental context helps to identify a particular human ecology which is a result not only of the flow of the biophysical dynamics but, mainly, of the social and cultural strategies generated by the successive human generations. Today, things are changing. Both Amorosa and Varzea have recently been submitted to human interventions, coming from the outside, and this calls for an urgent revaluation of the community's roles. The present study questions those interventions foresees situations which can determine the behaviour of the community and its surrounding environment. Moreover, it suggests forms of using natural resources which generate tourist activities and reflect the new landscape. The effects of the above mentioned interaction Man/natural-systems compulsory leads to new methodologies. The findings of this natural dependence are to be the base of a further study in the field of Human Ecology.
