#Abstract
The present paper analyses the more frequent morbidity of the Urgency Unit of the Guimarães District Hospital. It is structured in two main sections: the first one presents a theoric fades, analysing the problematic of health indicators more valid to evaluate the health state of a population and examines the profile of evolution of some indicators, e.g., infant mortality rate, perinatal mortality rate, in a national and infradistrict scale. The second section has a pragmatic profile, issued from an analysis of a sample of 6579 patients forms and from a three day survey in the summer of 1990. The main purpuse of this research was: to do a in depth analysis of the more frequent morbidity in an Urgency Unit at the end of the eighties, which isn't much focused in the health official statistics, and warn the hospital administrations of the need to revise their statistics.
