#Abstract
In a moment of intensive internationalisation of the economy, places play a fundamental role as it is in them that different ways of insertion in the world economy are developed. In this sense the Italian industrial districts/local productive systems represent a paradigmatic case. Although the productive system of the textile industry in Barcelos presents differences comparatively to the local traditional systems, it enhances once more the importance of the inherent characteristics to each territory in the process of developing an internationalisation of the enterprises.
