#Atenas, uma democracia?

#Abstract
After having described some of the most characteristic aspects of Athenian democracy, the A. discusses if the regime in Athens was, in fact, a democracy (since only a small minority of the population exercised political rights). Some of the accusations which, since Antiquity, have been levelled at the Athenian democracy are analysed and the A. concludes that those accusations were made by authors who did not believe in democracy and that neither the cruelty and nor the incompetence, which Athens was charged with practicing, were as serious as might be supposed.
