#Abstract
This article reflects on the visiting experience at the Serralves Foundation Park based on the concepts of space and place. The concept of space is related to movement, discovery and freedom, while the concept of place is associated with belonging, pause and familiarity. To discuss such concepts, qualitative data from interviews with 35 visitors and 09 Serralves professionals in 2016. This article concludes that there are differences in perception between regular visitors and tourists, with the former tending to experience the Serralves Park as a place and the latter tending to carry out visiting experiences marked by typical elements of the space. Understanding the existence of multiple forms of visiting experiences is essential for the construction of different educational, artistic and curatorial strategies appropriate to each profile of visitors.
