#Abstract
The present article refers to the process of musealization of religious cultural heritage, more particularly, its developments from the 18th century to the present day. The initial stage approaches the outlines and practices that the musealization of religious cultural heritage assumed over time, reflecting on how those methods influenced the reading and interpretation of ecclesiastical movable and immovable assets. In a second stage, the article presents the illustrative case of the Museum of Sacred Art of Capela da Lapa (Vila Nova de Famalicão) and part of the methodology adopted in the development of a museological proposal, carried out within the Masters in Museology (MMUS) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP).
